Patna: Divisional commissioner Mayank Warwade on Thursday chaired a high-level review of pre-monsoon preparedness, stressing that efficient drainage remains the govt’s top priority. He announced a zero-tolerance policy on waterlogging, warning that obstruction of drainage or delays in preparatory work will be treated as criminal negligence.
Under the Disaster Management Act, FIRs will be lodged against officials or agencies responsible for lapses. All pending drainage work must be completed within a week, with a follow-up review in 15 days.
Separately, Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (Buidco) has set June 15 as the deadline to repair all roads dug up for ongoing projects. Managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar issued the directive during a review meeting in Patna.
Departments including Buidco, Patna Municipal Corporation, and the Road Construction Department have been asked to ensure close coordination. Agencies cannot cut roads without a No Objection Certificate and must immediately restore excavated stretches.
To prevent flooding, all 56 permanent and 35 temporary pumping stations must function round-the-clock with dedicated power supply. Buidco is monitoring them in real time, while PMC has deployed quick-response teams across 19 zones to address complaints through a toll-free helpline.
