Family land dispute claims life of 60-year-old man in Purnia
A 60-year-old man, Dinesh Yadav, was fatally shot in Purnia district during a dispute over bamboo cutting on ancestral land. His son alleges that his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law arrived and one of them, Devdatt Yadav, fired three shots. Police are conducting raids to apprehend the accused, and forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene.
Patna: In an altercation over the cutting of bamboo on a disputed piece of land, a 60-year-old man was shot dead in Purnia district on Sunday.Following the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot. To control the situation, police personnel along with the Sadar SDPO reached the place.

The deceased was identified as Dinesh Yadav, a resident of Srinagar village under ward number 6.The deceased’s son, Mukesh Kumar, said, “My father was cutting bamboo from his sister’s share of land. Meanwhile, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Devdatt Yadav, Neelam Devi, Sachin, Prabhu and Shambhu Yadav, along with others, arrived at the spot in a car and four motorcycles. They started quarrelling with my father.”Sadar SDPO Jyoti Shankar said, “According to Mukesh’s allegation, Devdatt took out a firearm and fired three bullets at Dinesh, killing him on the spot. There was a long-standing land dispute between the two families. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.”A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also reached the spot and collected empty cartridges and other crucial evidence using metal detectors.
