Patna: Thousands of girl students who have passed their bachelor degree examinations from different universities of the state in the last academic session are likely to be deprived of the state govt’s incentive of Rs50,000 for the alleged indifference of the university concerned authorities. Despite repeated instructions from the state higher education department, some universities have failed to upload the girl graduates’ data onto the portal, even as May 30 is the last date of uploading the data.
Sources said the uploading of girl graduate data from all the 17 universities on the Samarth portal is behind schedule in spite of the fact that the universities were issued a strict deadline to upload them on the designated portal. Even governor-cum-chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain has been repeatedly directing the vice-chancellors to implement all the modules of Samarth portal at the earliest in the large interest of students.
The higher education department had already notified that all the girls who have passed their graduation examination from the state universities till Dec, 2025 are entitled to get a sum of Rs50,000 each as an incentive from the state govt under ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana’. According to official estimates, more than 1.50 lakh girls are eligible to get this incentive money under the scheme. But, many of these girls would be deprived of this incentive money as their data have not been uploaded by their universities concerned.
Higher education director Navin Kumar Agrawal told this newspaper that the delayed upload would directly impact the graduation scholarship processing, causing students to experience a longer wait time before applying for schemes like the Rs50,000 graduation incentive. The registrars and examination controllers of different universities have already been instructed to upload the results of all examinations published till Dec last year and the details of girls deserving this incentive on the Samarth portal by the stipulated period so that their processing could be complete in time and the incentive money could be deposited in the beneficiaries’ accounts. But, he regretted that many universities have not been able to do the same till date.
The universities to be covered under this scheme include Patna, Patliputra, B N Mandal, BRA Bihar, Jaya Prakash, L N Mithila, Munger, Purnia, T M Bhagalpur, Veer Kuar Singh, KSD Sanskrit, Magadh, Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian, Nalanda Open, Aryabhatta Knowledge, and Chanakya National Law universities and Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna.
