Six arrested for attack on Barachatti MLA’s convoy

Gaya: Police on Tuesday arrested six people in connection with alleged attack on the convoy of HAM-S Barachatti MLA Jyoti Manjhi on Sunday.The press note issued from the office of SSP said, “Six people—Paltu Yadav, Sunil Kumart, Neeru Yadav, Hriday Kumar alias Mitthu, Yogendra Yadav, Vikram Thakur—were arrested following raids in Mohanpur area. Raids are going on to arrest other accused.”The MLA on Sunday had lodged a complaint against seven named and 15-20 unidentified people at Mohanpur police station. She alleged that a group of people blocked the passage of her vehicle while she was on way to Gamharia village under Mohanpur block to attend a social function. When her security personnel asked the occupants of the other vehicle travelling on the same road to make way, they allegedly manhandled two guards—Dheeraj Kumar and Suraj Kumar. The accused, reportedly in an inebriated state, also made casteist remarks and allegedly attempted to smash the window panes of the MLA’s vehicle.She further alleged that her vehicle was denied police escort on the pretext of shortage of fuel in the official vehicle allegedly by the Mohanpur SHO.Magadh range IG Vikas Vaibhav said, “A delegation came to meet me on Tuesday regarding the police escort issue. The delegation was assured that full security will be provided to the MLA. Regarding the role of SHO, Gaya SSP has been asked to conduct an inquiry and take action accordingly.”
