VIB arrests revenue staff, middleman for accepting bribes in Patna
Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Thursday arrested a revenue employee and a middleman while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 in Phulwari Sharif, Patna.According to the VIB, the main accused, Rana Ranvijay Gopal, a revenue employee posted at Mainpuranda panchayat, was caught red-handed while taking the bribe. The middleman, Guddu Kumar, a resident of Anisabad under Gardanibagh police station area, was also arrested with Rs 10,000. Both were nabbed from the Mainpuranda panchayat bhawan.Complainant Praveen Kumar Suman, a resident of Bikram, lodged a complaint with VIB on June 3, alleging that the duo had demanded money for submitting a report to facilitate removal of alleged encroachment by four houses on the main road near his plot.“The complaint was verified and evidence of the demand was found. An FIR was registered and a trap team was led by DSP Rishita Sneh was constituted. The team conducted the raid and arrested both accused with the bribe amount,” a VIB statement said.The accused will be produced before the special vigilance court in Patna on Friday after interrogation. Further investigation is underway.
