Woman, two daughters die after consuming poison in Nalanda
Patna: A 28-year-old woman and her two daughters died after allegedly consuming poison in Jaganandpur village under Rahui police station area of Nalanda district, on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Kavita Devi (28), wife of Pintu Yadav, and their daughters Sapna Kumari (5) and Gunjan Kumari (1).The victim’s brother, Piyush Kumar, accused Kavita’s in-laws of poisoning his sister and nieces. He stated that when their condition worsened due to the poisoning, they were rushed to Pawapuri hospital, after which the in-laws fled. He alleged that Kavita’s in-laws harassed her for not giving birth to a son.

Rahui police station SHO, Lalit Vijay, said preliminary investigation revealed deaths by suicide by consuming poison, triggered by a prolonged domestic dispute. The police said the in-laws admitted the woman and children to the hospital before disappearing.To determine the exact cause of deaths, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to the spot for evidence collection. “Statements from both sides would be recorded. Postmortem and FSL reports would reveal further details. The absconding in-laws would be arrested soon,” he said.
