Rajkot: The father of deceased police constable of Bhavnagar,
Shaktisinh Gohil who died in a recent road accident, wants his grandson to join the police force. Yuvrajsinh, father of late Shaktisinh is himself a retired cop.
Chief minister Bhupendra Patel had a telephonic talk with Yuvrajsinh on Saturday after the death of Shaktisinh two days ago. He was in the car with three other constables who were coming from Delhi after detaining a theft accused and died after the vehicle met with an accident near Jaipur.
After talking to the CM, Yuvrajsinh told mediapersons his father too was in the police force. “I have also retired from the police force and I want my grandchild and late Shaktisinh’s son, Sharyaraj, to join the force and serve the nation.”
Three generations of the Gohil family have served in the Gujarat police force.
“The police uniform is attached to our family. How can we separate ourselves from that?” asked Yuvrajsinh, while thanking the state government for managing an air ambulance to bring the bodies and also paying ex gratia.
