Dumka: A 60-year-old woman, who ran a tea stall near Kunda police station in Deoghar, was found dead in her shop on Tuesday. The deceased Mala Devi’s face and head were smashed and her eyes were gouged out, preliminary police probe revealed.A team led by sub-divisional police officer Ashok Kumar Singh, along with forensic experts and police teams from Kunda and Town police stations, began an investigation. Mala’s body was sent to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination.A resident of Lakhoria Bhaluwahi village under Sarwan police station area of Deoghar, she had been living in a house in Bandha under Rikhia police station limits and had been running the tea stall for two months. Mala slept in her stall at night. The incident came to light around 10:30 am on Tuesday when a caller informed the victim’s daughter about the murder. The family subsequently alerted the police. Mala’s husband, Shiv Yadav, has reportedly gone missing after the incident, raising suspicion. An FIR has been lodged into the incident. “Attempts are underway to identify and arrest the assailants,” Singh said, adding that the motive behind the murder is unclear.
