CBI court sentences former BSNL officer to 3 years rigorous imprisonment in disproportionate assets case
Ranchi: A special CBI court in Ranchi on Friday sentenced a former Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited technical officer to rigorous imprisonment of three years in a disproportionate assets case.
The court of Yogesh Kumar on Friday convicted and sentenced Ram Binod Singh under Section 13(2) and 13(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on him, with the order that he would undergo imprisonment of one year if he fails to pay.
The CBI registered a case in this connection in 2007, accusing Singh of misusing his post during his service and acquiring disproportionate assets worth Rs 34 lakh. The CBI public prosecutor Davinder Pal Sood produced several witnesses to establish his argument.
