LPG crisis warnings: FJCCI warns of LPG crisis impact on industries; Dhanbad police vows to combat black-marketing and profiteering

Ranchi/Dhanbad: The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Monday stated that the prevailing LPG crisis is likely to impact several industries leading to retrenchment of workers and hardship for their families. The federation sought information from the Ranchi administration on its action plan for tackling future crisis.FJCCI president Aditya Malhotra said, “During the meeting with Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri and other officials, we stated that hotels, banquets halls and several industrial units, which solely depend on LPG for manufacturing their products, would be impacted if the crisis intensifies.” Malhotra added that he asked about priorities of the administration during distribution of LPG cylinders. “Measures related to LPG conservation and alternatives, including use of induction stoves for cooking, were also discussed,” he said.In a related development, Dhanbad police has warned against profiteering, black-marketing and hoarding of essential commodities, especially LPG cylinders. SSP Prabhat Kumar said that any attempt to exploit the situation at the cost of public welfare will invite strict legal action.Kumar stated that in such sensitive times, when the nation stands united to tackle potential disruptions, certain elements are trying to turn the crisis into an opportunity for unlawful gain. “No one will be allowed to play with the interests of common people. Selling essential goods above the prescribed rates or creating artificial shortage will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said.He highlighted that hoarding and black-marketing of food items, medicines, daily-use products, fuel and cooking gas are serious offences.
