Surat: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped in the Nabipur police station jurisdiction in Bharuch. The crime was perpetrated as ‘revenge' for her brother eloping with the sister of the accused. The families of both the victim and the accused are from the same village in MP.
The families of the victim and accused lived at Haldar village near a railway track in makeshift huts, as they worked for a contractor to lay railway tracks. The accused and four others came to the victim's house three days ago and abducted four women, including the rape victim, in a car. After assaulting them, they dropped off the three women and took the girl with them. One of the accused then raped her.
"The victim's brother had eloped with the sister of the accused three months ago. As they did not return, the accused came with his relatives and abducted four women when the menfolk were not home. After dropping the three women off, minor was raped by the accused in a moving car. We have booked five persons, including the person accused of rape," a police officer said. Police invoked the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act as well.
