T'puram: Medical college police arrested a 25-year-old woman for allegedly cheating a youth of Rs 63,380 by promising to secure him a job as an emergency medical technician (EMT) at a private hospital in the city.The accused was identified as Archana B V, of Karamana. According to police, she came into contact with the youth through Instagram and gradually gained his trust by claiming that she was working as a doctor at a prominent private hospital. During their interactions, she allegedly assured the youth that she could arrange an EMT position for him at the hospital. Believing her claims, the youth's father transferred the money to the accused through Google Pay over several days. Police said after receiving the money, the accused failed to fulfil the promise and became evasive, prompting the family to lodge a complaint. Following an investigation, police tracked the accused and took her into custody. She was later produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. Police officials said further investigation is under way to ascertain whether the accused had cheated others using a similar modus operandi.
