KANNUR: Police on Sunday registered cases against several CPI-M activists for taking out a procession without prior permission of the police at Panur near Thalassery in the district.
Police said over 1,000 of CPI-M members, led by party''s Panur area secretary Hareendran, held a march this evening and shouted slogans criticising additional sessions Judge K K Chandradas who recently pronounced death sentences on five party men in the Yuva Morcha State Vice-president K T Jayakrishnan murder case.
The march, which also blocked road traffic along the route, later culminated at a public meeting addressed by former Kerala Chief Minister and party politburo member E K Nayanar, they added.
