Drunken gang attacks petrol pump employees over fuel charge
Thiruvananthapuram: A three-member gang, who were under the influence of alcohol, allegedly attacked two employees of a petrol pump near the Infosys campus in Kulathoor following a dispute over fuel payment on Friday night.The employees, Unni and Rajeev, were attacked around 8.30pm. According to police, the gang travelling in a car first allegedly asked Unni to fill petrol worth Rs 210 and after that asked him to fill additional petrol worth Rs 110. According to the employees, the occupants then questioned Unni when he asked for the total amount and demanded an explanation regarding the quantity of fuel dispensed. The argument escalated when one of the accused allegedly got out of the vehicle and assaulted Unni after being dissatisfied with his response. During the scuffle, petrol reportedly splashed onto the face of one of the accused, further escalating tensions. Another member of the group then joined the assault and allegedly attacked Unni. Rajeev, another employee who intervened after witnessing the incident, was also assaulted by the group. The assailants later fled the spot. The petrol pump owner lodged a complaint with Thumba police. They also handed over the CCTV footage of the attack to the police.
