Little KITEs state-level awards announced

Thiruvananthapuram: State-level awards for ‘Little KITEs', a project implemented by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) in public schools, have been announced. AMMHSS Edayaranmula (Pathanamthitta) was selected as the best school unit in the state. GHS Kurumbala (Wayanad) secured the second position, while GGHSS Cotton Hill (Thiruvananthapuram) bagged third place.AMMHSS Idayaranmula secured the top spot for the second consecutive year, primarily due to its remarkable social interventions. GHS Kurumpala was placed second following its excellence in conducting specialised training sessions for children with special needs, as well as orientation programmes for other students and parents. Currently, there are 2,248 Little KITEs units in high schools across the state, aimed at ensuring student participation in activities related to high-tech school project.
Schools securing first, second and third positions at the state level will receive cash prizes of Rs 2.5 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh, respectively. At the district level, winners of the first three positions will be awarded Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. In addition to the cash prize, these schools will receive specially designed trophies and certificates of merit. Certificates will also be awarded for excellence at the sub-district level. The award winners were selected by a committee chaired by K Anvar Sadath, CEO of KITE, after evaluating 16 different criteria. These included daily unit activities, social interventions, school wiki documentation, maintenance of high-tech classrooms and public training sessions conducted by the units. The awards will be distributed during the Little KITEs State Camp to be held during the summer vacation.
