No tolerance to social media abuse, says Kerala CM V D Satheesan
T’puram: Chief minister V D Satheesan on Friday said his govt would take strict action against those who abuse others on social media platforms. The CM was responding to questions over the suspension of a KSRTC employee for sharing a derogatory post against Satheesan.
“The govt stand is clear. What else should we do with a KSRTC employee who circulated a morphed photograph of the CM? Did you see that? My face was attached to the naked body of some man. What message it would give out if no action is taken against such people?” CM asked, adding that the govt would take strict action against anyone who uses social media to humiliate people.
Satheesan rejected the arguments that he too was developing too much sensitivity to social media post like his predecessor Pinarayi Vijayan. He said the govt policy would apply to all, not just CM.
Meanwhile, the general education department on Friday suspended a govt higher secondary school principal from service for circulating defamatory content targeting Satheesan. Javad Subair, the principal of Attingal govt model higher secondary school, was suspended two days before his retirement from service after an FIR was registered against him at the Kilimanoor police station.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Kilimanoor Youth Congress worker Akhil A P, alleging that Subair had shared objectionable content on social media.
