Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has announced a major disruption in drinking water supply across several parts of the city on June 12 and 13 (Friday and Saturday) due to emergency repair works on a major transmission pipeline.
According to KWA, repair work will be undertaken to fix a leak that has developed in the 900mm PSC pipeline along the Paruthippara–Vayalikkada stretch. As a result, water supply to multiple wards under Thiruvananthapuram corporation will be completely suspended and will remain partially disrupted until June 19.
The affected areas include Kazhakkoottam, Chanthavila, Kattayikonam, Sreekaryam, Cheruvakkal, Chellamangalam, Chempazhanthy, Powdikonam, Njandoorkonam, Sainik School area, Chenkottukonam, Kariavattom, Pangappara, Pallithura, Attipra, Poundukadavu, Akkulam, Kulathoor, Alathara, Kuzhivila, Kesavadasapuram, Edavacode, Pattom, Ulloor and Muttada.
The water authority has advised residents in the affected localities to make necessary arrangements and store adequate water in advance to avoid inconvenience during the repair period. Officials said the maintenance work is essential to prevent further leakage and ensure the smooth functioning of the city’s water distribution network.
