TVK MLAs inspect govt hospitals in Srirangam, Musiri
Trichy: TVK MLAs from Srirangam and Musiri constituencies on Friday conducted inspections at government hospitals in their respective segments during their first field visit after taking oath in the Assembly.During the inspection at Srirangam Government Hospital, hospital authorities requested Srirangam MLA S Ramesh to identify a suitable site for expanding the facility. At Musiri Government Hospital, staff urged Musiri MLA M Vignesh to arrange night-time police security at the hospital. The MLAs assured the public that demands related to infrastructure and healthcare services would be taken up with the state government. "The inspection was carried out without prior intimation. Hospital staff sought a laundry facility to wash bedsheets, while ambulance drivers requested a resting space. We have taken note of these demands," Vignesh said. He also pointed to a shortage of doctors and beds at Musiri Government Hospital, adding that many patients were being referred to government medical college hospitals in Trichy, Karur and Namakkal.
At Srirangam Government Hospital, Ramesh said patients had complained that some staff demanded money for wheelchair services. "The matter has been brought to the attention of doctors for necessary action," he said. Hospital authorities informed the MLA that at least four acres of land would be required for expansion of the hospital infrastructure. They said such land was currently available only at Somarasampettai, around 10 km from Srirangam. "We will study the issue and take necessary steps," Ramesh told reporters. MSID:: 131139810 413 |
