Trichy: TVK has sought permission for Vijay's campaign in Pudukottai's Aranthangi to another date after the previously proposed date coincided with DMK president and chief minister M K Stalin's expected arrival to the district.
TVK had initially applied for permission for Vijay to campaign on April 10 through the Suvidha portal. However, as the date coincided with Stalin's arrival on April 10 and a DMK public meeting in the district the following day, TVK has now sought permission for April 14.
"They have requested April 14 at 2pm. It has been forwarded to the DSP for opinion," Aranthangi returning officer S Leelavathi said.
TVK leaders have alleged that the police are deliberately withholding permission on their preferred dates to disrupt Vijay's campaign. "Citing the CM's visit, they asked us to change the dates," said TVK's joint general secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar.
