Man held for killing wife over domestic dispute in Fazalpur

Vadodara: A 20-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly murdering his wife at their residence in Fazalpur village.According to police, the accused Harshad Gohil allegedly strangled his 22-year-old wife Tejal on Saturday morning. The couple had been married for around one-and-a-half months but were reportedly facing frequent disputes. Police said Gohil suspected his wife's character and had also been physically harassing her.On Saturday afternoon, Gohil allegedly called Tejal's brother Jaydeep and told him to come to the hospital to collect her body.Tejal was taken to SSG Hospital in an unconscious state, where doctors declared her dead. However, her brother became suspicious after noticing injury marks on her neck.A post-mortem examination later confirmed that she had been strangled, following which police initiated an investigation.An offence of murder was registered at Nandesari police station and a search was launched for Gohil. He was later found hiding in open fields near his village. Police also said he allegedly attempted to end his life by jumping from the terrace of his house but sustained minor injuries.
