VARANASI: To chalk out a course of action for the success of pulse
polio programme starting from January 10, the district magistrate held a meeting of pulse polio task force-II at the District Rifle Club on Friday.
It was decided that the health department would hold a meeting of Muslim clerics at Jamia Hospital, Pili Kothi, on Saturday to seek their cooperation.
DM AK Upadhyaya instructed to cover children of slums and brick kilns in rural areas. Chief medical office (in-charge) RP Tiwari informed all necessary arrangements had been made. According to him, as many as 1,825 polio booths have been created in the district while 1,158 teams have been engaged in the exercise. He said about nine lakh doses of polio vaccine were available and proper training had been imparted to workers.
According to him, there are 6,28,982 children up to five years of age. To conduct the programme, 34 mobile teams along with 337 booth observers and 358 team observers would be engaged in the work. The meeting was attended by the chief development officer and others.
