VIJAYAWADA: Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has directed CRDA and Transco officials to expedite the re-routing of existing 400 kV and 220 kV Extra High Tension (EHT) transmission lines passing through the core capital area of Amaravati, in view of the fast-paced development of the city. He emphasised that the work should be carried out in a swift, coordinated, and time-bound manner to facilitate unhindered infrastructure development.
The Chief Secretary held a detailed review with APCRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu, JMD Transco G. Surya Sai Praveenchand, MD AGICL S.V.R. Srinivas, CMD APCPDCL P. Pulla Reddy, Directors of Transco J.V. Rao and A.K.V. Bhaskar, Chief Engineer Sudheevan Kumar, Murali Krishna Yadav, and other stakeholders on various planning and field-level issues. The CS reviewed the stage-wise progress of ongoing works and the next course of action required for timely completion.
The Chief Secretary asked officials to organise coordination meetings with the concerned departments and agencies. He stressed that necessary corrective measures should be taken promptly wherever bottlenecks or implementation issues arise. Officials were informed that these works are being closely monitored at the government level, including regular reviews by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, as the projects form part of the government’s flagship Amaravati development programme.
Officials explained that the re-routing of the 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines is being taken up as a deposit-funded work in line with the approved planning framework of APCRDA, following consultations with all stakeholders. The revised alignment has been planned to bypass core development zones and align with designated green buffers and major arterial road corridors, in accordance with the master plan.
The Chief Secretary instructed the officials to speed up the execution of works in a planned and systematic manner, strictly adhering to the approved schedules. He directed APCRDA and Transco that all works should be completed as per timelines and that progress should be updated regularly. Vijayanand reiterated that the government is giving special priority and focused attention to the Amaravati development projects, and instructed officials to ensure continuous field-level monitoring, close coordination, and timely completion of the re-routing works to support the overall development of the capital city.
