Vijayawada: Amid concerns over fuel availability, the state govt has clarified that there is no shortage of LPG, with stocks far exceeding daily demand. Civil supplies director Srivas Nupur Ajay Kumar stated that nearly 14,000 metric tonnes of LPG are currently available in refineries, while the daily consumption stands at around 4,100 metric tonnes.
Addressing a press conference, she assured that the supply of cooking gas, petrol, diesel and fertilisers remains stable despite global uncertainties. "People need not panic. We have sufficient reserves and are continuously monitoring supply systems to avoid any disruption," she said, urging citizens not to fall for rumours circulating on social media.
To streamline distribution, 100% home delivery of LPG cylinders is being ensured, with bookings facilitated through WhatsApp, IVRS, missed calls and mobile apps. To prevent panic buying, rebooking is allowed only after 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural regions.
Officials also highlighted strict measures to curb black marketing. Nearly 90% of LPG deliveries are now OTP-based, and since March, authorities have registered 1,075 cases and seized 4,377 cylinders for violations.
