Vijayawada: A 40-year-old man torched his mother-in-law with petrol after she allegedly refused to stay at his residence along with her daughter. The incident happened at Dachepalli in Palnadu district on Tuesday night. She suffered around 40% burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital by her family members, where her condition is said to be stable."Chekka Ravi and his wife had domestic disputes for the last 12 years and quarrelled multiple times in the past. Ravi wanted his wife's mother, Lakshmi, to stay with them and requested her on multiple occasions to do so. However, Lakshmi turned down her son-in-law's requests, which enraged him. In a fit of rage, he bought petrol, went to Lakshmi's residence and set her on fire," Dachepalli police station CI Bhaskar said. The accused is currently in the custody of police, he added.
