Rajahmundry: West Godavari police police on Friday bulldozed the petty shop belonging to the 71-year-old man who allegedly sexually assaulted a minor girl in Achanta mandal of West Godavari district a couple of days ago. Police officials said the move was meant to send a clear warning to those who commit sexual crimes against minors. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the accused, Velagam Venkata Swamy (71), and his family members, who are reportedly absconding. According to the police, the victim, a seven-year-old girl from a village in Achanta mandal, had gone to the accused's shop to buy chocolates. The shop owner, who was alone at the time, allegedly lured her on the pretext of giving her more chocolates and then sexually assaulted her. After returning home, the child complained of severe pain, prompting her mother to lodge a complaint with the Achanta police. A case has been registered, and investigation is underway.
