Six arrested in daylight gold robbery case in Palnadu
Vijayawada: The Karampudi police in Palnadu district arrested six people in connection with a daylight robbery in which the accused stole Rs 60 lakh worth of gold ornaments. The six accused identified as Bandaru Ajith (25), K Sasi Kumar (22), K Sai Kiran (24), A Nikhil Mahesh (20), G Pawan (30), and G Sambaiah (27), all belonging to various parts of Guntur district, at NSP canal bund and seized 566.60 grams of gold ornaments, including a Yamaha MT-15 and Hero Glamour bikes, from their possession.Disclosing the case details to the media on Sunday, Palnadu superintendent of police B Krishnarao said the accused targeted individuals transporting gold to jewellery shops and executed a pre-planned attack to loot valuables. The victim, Yakkala Srinivasa Rao of Vinukonda, arrived in Karampudi to supply ready-made gold ornaments to local jewellery stores, a routine he followed every Monday. Acting on a plan allegedly devised by Gosula Sambayya, an employee at a local jewellery shop, four of the accused attacked the trader and fled with the bag containing gold ornaments on motorcycles.Based on the victim's complaint, a case was registered at the Karampudi police station. The police teams under the supervision of Gurazala DSP M Maheswara Rao and Karampudi circle inspector P Sharath Babu launched an investigation using CCTV footage and technical evidence.During interrogation, police found that the accused were driven by financial needs and bad habits, leading them to commit the robbery for quick money.On the occasion, the SP appreciated the investigation team, including SI Vasu, special police units, IT core and clues team, for solving the case and recovering the stolen property.
