Woman injured in alleged murder attempt by husband in Krishna district

Vijayawada: Tension prevailed in Uyyuru town of Krishna district after a woman was allegedly attacked by her husband in broad daylight on Katuru Road on Sunday.According to police, the accused, identified as Sambaiah, allegedly attempted to kill his wife, Pushpavathi, by attacking her with a stone in the middle of the road. The woman sustained severe head injuries in the assault and collapsed on the spot, causing panic among locals and passers-by.Police said the couple reportedly had been living separately due to ongoing marital disputes and personal differences. Preliminary investigation indicates that frequent quarrels between them may have led to the attack.Locals immediately alerted the police and shifted the injured woman to a nearby hospital. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, doctors later referred her to the govt general hospital in Vijayawada for advanced treatment.Police reached the scene soon after the incident and took the accused into custody. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and motive behind the attack.The incident created panic in the area as the attack took place on a busy road in full public view.
