VISAKHAPATNAM: Senior
BJP leader and former Vizag MP K Kambhampati Hari Babu has been appointed as Mizoram governor. President
Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday appointed governors for eight states, including Hari Babu.
Born in Prakasam district, Hari Babu worked as an associate professor in Andhra University college of engineering for 24 years. He was elected
MLA from Vizag-I constituency in 1999. He was BJP’s floor leader in AP assembly in 2003. He later served as Vizag MP from 2014 to 2019. Over the course of his political career, Hari Babu held various positions in BJP, including serving as president of the state’s B JP unit from March 2014 to April 2018. He also held key positions in several central government committees.
Hari Babu also actively participated in Lok Sangharsh Samiti agitation in 1974-75 under Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan. He was arrested during the emergency and imprisoned for six months in Visakhapatnam central jail and Musheerabad jail.
