Riteish Deshmukh's ambitious project 'Raja Shivaji', the film based on Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, opened to mixed reactions from the critics as well as the audience. Despite early reviews, the film raked in good numbers at the box office. The film that was simultaneously shot in Marathi and Hindi, was off to a record start at the box office. While the Marathi version minted a record-breaking number, the Hindi dubbed film also showcased decent numbers.

As per the Sacnilk report, on Day 1, the Riteish Deshmukh starrer has minted Rs 3.35 crore across 4,251 shows in the country. The film ran across 6291 shows in total, including Hindi, Marathi, and Telugu versions. The film collected Rs 11.35 crore net in total (Hindi and Marathi) in India. The total India gross earnings of the film are Rs 13.51 crore.

'Raja Shivaji' clashed with the Aamir Khan-backed film 'Ek Din', starring his son, Junaid Khan, and Sai Pallavi. The actress marked her debut in Bollywood with the film, which is a remake of the Thai romantic drama 'One Day'.
Theatres have also allocated screens to the Hollywood release 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'. Meanwhile, the Michael Jackson biopic 'Michael', along with Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', is also adding to the box office competition.

The ensemble cast also includes Boman Irani, Ashok Samarth, Suresh Vishwakarma, Riteish and Genelia's sons, Riaan and Rahyl, Mir Sarwar, and more. Ajay-Atul, the duo, have composed the music for the film.
It was released in theatres on May 1, 2026.
