In the world of Bollywood friendships,
Anupam Kher and the late
Satish Kaushik share a special place. In a recent media interaction, Anupam Kher opened up about Satish Kaushik's passion project, ‘Kaagaz 2,’ and the unfulfilled dreams they had woven together for the future.
Speaking with PTI, Kher shed light on ‘Kaagaz 2,’ labeling it as Kaushik's passion project, infused with topicality and complexity. In the film, Anupam essays the role of a lawyer, while Kaushik portrays a heartbroken father fighting for justice after the tragic demise of his daughter. Describing the film's essence, Kher noted, “It is a very complex film, it has that Rashomon impact, that everyone has their own point of view."
What adds a layer of poignancy to the narrative is Anupam Kher's revelation that he and Satish Kaushik had plans beyond ‘Kaagaz 2.’ The duo intended to collaborate on two more projects, one being ‘Drinking Partners,’ a film written by Rumi Jaffery. In the film, Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumar were set to feature. Despite Rumi's inclination to direct it, Satish Kaushik was passionate about helming the project. Reflecting on this, Anupam expressed his desire to request Rumi to bring the story to life.
Another project in the pipeline was a play titled ‘Uss Paar Ka Nazara,’ inspired by the play ‘View from the Bridge.’ Kaushik envisioned bringing this play to the stage with Kher in a leading role. Determined to fulfill Kaushik's vision, Anupam affirmed, "I would try my best to bring all the stories to life that my late pal wanted to share."
For the unversed, ‘Kaagaz 2’ is Satish Kaushik’s last movie. It is a sequel to the 2021 biographical comedy film directed by Satish Kaushik, and is slated to release on March 1.
