'Kalamkaval' OTT release confirmed: Mammootty crime thriller heads to streaming; January release locked

Mammootty had a busy 2025 with three films as the main lead. But among all these 'Kalamkaval' stood out the most and it was especially because he was playing a serial killer character in it. Now the movie is back in the news again and this time for its OTT release.Sony LIV has officially confirmed that 'Kalamkaval' will start streaming in January 2026. The platform has not shared the exact date yet. Still they clearly said the film will arrive sometime in January. The movie will be available in multiple audio languages. Viewers can watch it in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil, and Malayalam. Many expect the film to drop early in January though an official day is still awaited. The makers shared the OTT news with a brand-new teaser. Along with the teaser they wrote, "The legend returns, darker and deadlier. Mammootty in a performance that will leave you breathless. Biggest blockbuster of the season, #Kalamkaval streaming this January only on Sony LIV!." 'Kalamkaval' is directed by debutant Jithin K. Jose. The film features a strong supporting cast. Vinayakan plays a key role and shares intense scenes with Mammootty.The film received mixed but mostly positive reactions. ETimes review said, "Mammootty remains the film’s biggest asset, delivering a performance sharpened by stillness and cold precision. Vinayakan matches him with a brooding, tightly coiled presence, though the screenplay could have offered him more depth."On the other hand Mammootty is all set for his next most-awaited action thriller film 'Patriot' which is directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The film also has Mohanlal in the lead role and the expectations are quite high. Mammootty started this year with the Gautham Menon's first Malayalam directiorial 'Dominic and the Ladies' Purse' which is now streaming on OTT.
