Jackie Shroff confirms return for 'Khalnayak Returns' alongside Sanjay Dutt: '100% Commissioner has to be there, right?'

More than three decades after the massive success of the 1993 action blockbuster 'Khal Nayak', veteran actor Jackie Shroff has officially confirmed his return for its highly anticipated sequel, 'Khalnayak Returns.' Speaking about the project, the actor revealed that he has already had discussions with filmmaker Subhash Ghai and co-star Sanjay Dutt. Shroff dropped a massive hint about his character's evolution, stating that "the Commissioner has to be there," suggesting his iconic character, Inspector Ram, has moved up the ranks.During a conversation with India Today, Jackie Shroff spoke about joining the film and shared his excitement about becoming part of the project. The actor also hinted that his earlier character would continue to be present in the sequel. Speaking about Khalnayak Returns, Jackie said, “Excellent! I’m waiting for it.” Confirming his participation in the film, he further added, “100%. Commissioner has to be there, right? Commissioner toh hoga na (There must be a Commissioner, right?).”Jackie also opened up about his friendship with Sanjay Dutt while discussing the project. The actor expressed happiness about returning to work alongside him again. Their on-screen partnership in the original film became one of the memorable aspects of the movie. Speaking warmly about Sanjay Dutt, Jackie said, “It’s nice to be with friends. Mera jaan hai Sanju Baba (he is my life).”The actor also revealed that conversations regarding the sequel had already happened with the team involved in the project. According to Jackie, he has spoken with filmmaker Subhash Ghai and Sanjay Dutt regarding the film. He said, “Yes, I’ve spoken to Subhash ji, the producer, and Sanju Baba.” The original 'Khal Nayak', directed by Subhash Ghai, featured Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff in leading roles and later achieved cult status among audiences. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster and soared Sanjay Dutt's popularity as an action king.
