Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge is rewriting box office records, but
Ram Gopal Varma is now calling out the film industry for what he describes as a “loud silence” around its success.
The Ranveer Singh-led film has crossed a staggering Rs 1,200 crore worldwide, even surpassing the lifetime collections of RRR. Despite its phenomenal run, Varma questioned why more industry voices haven’t openly celebrated the achievement.
Taking to X, he wrote, “Now that @AdityaDharFilms has EXPLODED a ATOMIC BOMB right under the film industry, what is shocking is the loud silence from the rest of the film industry.”
‘Are they in denial or paralysed?’
Varma didn’t hold back as he speculated on the reasons behind the muted reaction. “I don’t know whether this is because the #Dhurandhar2’s devastating explosion has hurled everyone else in the film industry so far into OUTER SPACE that their applause cannot reach here... OR whether they’re huddled in denial, whispering to each other, ‘It’s just propaganda... it will go away soon,’” he wrote.
He further added, “OR are they just paralysed by the film’s sheer brilliance, realising that whatever they’ve been making... cannot measure up?”
The filmmaker also warned against ignoring the film’s impact. Calling it a “DINOSAUR,” he wrote, “Isn’t it extremely unwise to ignore a DINOSAUR like #Dhurandhar2... BREATHING FIRE into your eyes with its BOX OFFICE ROAR?”
‘Study it or risk being left behind’
Urging the industry to take note, Varma concluded, “My sincere advice... is to please take #Dhurandhar2 deadly seriously and study it... OR risk being buried forever in the graveyard of pre-March 19, 2026 cinema.”
While several big names including Rajinikanth, SS Rajamouli, Priyadarshan, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Vijay Deverakonda, Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt have praised the film and Ranveer Singh’s performance, Varma pointed out that widespread public celebration from the industry remains limited.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge follows the journey of Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who transforms into Indian spy Hamza Ali Mazari while navigating the dangerous nexus of politics and the underworld. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun in key roles.
With over Rs 846 crore net in India alone, the film continues to dominate the box office—while also sparking a debate the industry can no longer ignore.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
