‘Veere Di Wedding’: Interesting facts about the film

Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer 'Veere Di Wedding' received a lot of appreciation from the critics and the audience. Soon after such good response from the audience, there were reports that the makers are planning to make a sequel to the film.

Reports have it that the work for the sequel of the film has already begun and according to a report by a portal Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhasker's role for the sequel have been confirmed. But according to the latest news, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s role in the film looks slightly dicey at the moment.

A source close to the portal revealed that the 'Veere Di Wedding 2' is very much on the cards after the stupendous success of the first part. The source further added that the makers are in talks with Kareena for the sequel however once they get a confirmation from her we will know if she will be part of the sequel or no.

'Veere Di Wedding' is based on the life of four girls and the struggles they face while preparing for Kareena’s grand wedding with Sumeet Vyas.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer ‘Veere Di Wedding’ has done stupendous at the box office. The movie has minted Rs 80 crores and continues to soar in the theatres. The makers had already hinted about the sequel to the successful movie. However, there were reports that ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ director Alankrita Shrivastava would be replacing Shashanka Ghosh as the director for the sequel.

Now as per latest reports, the makers of ‘Veere Di Wedding’ have slammed these rumours and released an official statement and said, “There is no truth to the reports. If at all a sequel is being planned, Shashanka Ghosh will be directing it. It’s too soon to talk about the details.”

‘Veere Di Wedding’ which marked the return of Kareena Kapoor Khan on the big screen post her maternity break revolves around the lives of four friends who have their own set of problems nad how they deal with them.

Now according to a report by a tabloid, a close source to them have revealed that Ekta Kapoor wants 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' filmmaker to direct 'Veere Di Wedding 2'. However, nothing has been finalised yet.

A source close to the development had informed a daily that Ekta and Rhea may come from different schools of cinema, but have always aimed to make films that are distinctive, and become a talking point. The source added that owing to the success of ‘Veere Di Wedding’, several people from the industry have been encouraging them to work on a sequel since the film's concept and characters received so much love from the audience. The source revealed that at the dinner, the two had a discussion about the story lending itself to a franchise.

The song is titled ‘Tareefan’ and is said to be a catchy number which will also mark Badshah’s singing debut. According to reports, the song is based on girls taking on stereotypical roles assumed by their male counterparts.

A source close to the development revealed that since everyone involved in the project are hardcore feminists when the idea about the song’s concept was being discussed, everyone decided it to be a catchy number which would place the boys in the girls’ seats as equals. Thus, top hunky male models were flown down from abroad to shoot the music video which has the actresses doing what an actor would do. The song will be launched after the trailer launch next week but very international and stylized.

Farah Khan also revealed how the song is extremely glamorous and talks about role reversal. Unlike the usual music videos, ‘Tareefan’ will see the girls are in the forefront and the team reportedly also got some really hot Brazilian international male models in the background. She further added as to the four girls are doing everything the guys would usually do – they are waiting for the guys to get ready, to finish their shower, they are driving the guys to the club and paying for the boys with their credit cards and all this has been shot in a very stylized way. There’s going to be another women-centric film on Bollywood’s shelf and everyone’s excited. The movie marks Kareena Kapoor Khan’s comeback post her baby boy Taimur’s birth. The much-awaited film is titled ‘Veere Di Wedding’ also has Sonam Kapoor, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhasker in pivotal roles.

As per reports, the team is almost done shooting a major portion of the film. And they are currently occupied shooting for an entertaining song. Reportedly, the song featuring Badshah is supposedly titled ‘Tareefan’ and is primarily based on the idea of role reversal with instances of girls taking on roles stereotypically assumed by their male counterparts.

Farah Khan, who recently choreographed ‘Zingaat’ with Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter for Shashank Khaitan’s ‘Dhadak’, is now choreographing for ‘Veere Di Wedding’ too. And looks like, the ‘Neerja’ actor is too excited as she posted a picture with Farah Khan. She captioned the image saying, “I’m so lucky I get to work with you! Thanks so much for doing this song! We love you!”

Moreover, the film’s trailer will be out on April 19, 2018. A daily quoted a source saying that the theatrical promo for the film will be launched on April 19. Unlike most others, this won’t be just a digital launch, but the actors will be unveiling the trailer with a press conference.

Veere Di Wedding is slated to release on June 1, 2018.
