Actor-director Samuthirakani has officially confirmed that he is part of Arasan, the much-anticipated project directed by
Vetrimaaran and headlined by Silambarasan. The announcement has created fresh excitement because the film is closely linked to the world of Vada Chennai. Samuthirakani, who played Guna in the earlier film, said the director told him his character is very much part of this new story. His confirmation also ends speculation about whether familiar faces from the original crime drama will return.
Samuthirakani explains the effort behind 'Arasan'
Speaking about the film with Cinema Express, Samuthirakani made it clear that 'Arasan' is not a simple project. He said the film requires a massive amount of work and dedication from the entire team. According to him, every time Vetrimaaran narrates the script, it feels new and different, which shows the depth of the writing. He also added that the story has all the strong elements needed for a powerful crime drama. However, he chose not to reveal key plot details and said he is unsure whether there will be a face-off between Silambarasan and Dhanush, a question many fans are eagerly asking.
An untold story from the same timeline
Both Vetrimaaran and Samuthirakani have now confirmed that 'Arasan' takes place in the same time period as 'Vada Chennai' but in a different location. This makes the film an untold chapter from the same universe rather than a direct sequel. The connection between the two films is strengthened by the recurring characters of Ameer, Kishore, and Andrea Jeremiah, with Samuthirakani returning as well.
Samuthirakani's busy phase with web series and films
Meanwhile, Samuthirakani's web series debut, 'Thadayam' is out on Zee5, and he plays a cop investigating murders in border villages in rural Tamil Nadu. Moreover, in addition to his busy shooting schedule in Tamil and Telugu films, many fans are looking forward to his return in the 'Vada Chennai' franchise, which has become one of the most discussed topics. His statement has fueled much debate about which of the older 'Arasan' characters will be resurrected to follow the new and exciting plot.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
