Mumbai cops scanning places of worship in Ujjain, Khandwa to trace shooter

State funeral was accorded to former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his son's office in Mumbai's Bandra on Saturday.Siddique, who served as the minister of state for various departments between 2004 and 2008, also held the position of President of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA). He was shot by unidentified attackers and sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest before being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.Dr Jalil Parkar, a physician at the hospital, stated that Siddique arrived in critical condition, with unrecordable pulse and blood pressure, and the ECG showed a flat line. He was declared dead at 11:27 PM.Mumbai police have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder. Additional CP Paramjit Singh Dahiya reported that the incident occurred around 9.30pm in Nirmal Nagar, and a 9mm pistol used in the crime has been recovered.Delhi Police will dispatch a special investigation team to Mumbai to assist in the investigation. The Mumbai Police are also exploring possible connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, given Siddique's close ties to actor Salman Khan, who has previously been targeted by the gang.
