India's Covid-19 caseload rose to 99.32 lakh with 26,382 infections being reported in a day, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 94.56 lakh, according to data updated by the Union health ministry on Wednesday. In its latest report, Check Point Research, a global cyber security firm, has found a stream of posts on the internet from sources claiming to have a range of ‘coronavirus vaccines’ or remedies for sale. The findings come close on the heels of Europol, the EU's law enforcement agency, issuing an early warning notification last week. “When a Covid-19 vaccine does become available, it will likely not be available for sale online. However, fraudulent pharmaceutical products advertised as allegedly treating or preventing Covid-19 are already on sale, both offline and online,” the notification reads.
WHO is aware of reports that a new variant of Covid-19 has been identified in the UK, although there is no evidence to suggest that the mutation will impact the effectiveness of vaccines against the disease, an official said. UK health secretary Matt Hancock earlier in the day announced that a new variant of Covid-19 had been identified in the south of England, and was responsible for roughly 1,000 cases.

Moderna Covid-19 vaccine documents accessed in EMA cyberattack
Moderna Inc said on Monday it was informed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) certain documents related to pre-submission talks of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate were unlawfully accessed in a cyberattack on the medicines regulator. The EMA, which assesses medicines and vaccines for the European Union, said earlier this month that it had been targeted in a cyberattack, which also gave hackers access to documents related to the development of the Pfizer Inc and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
