Kuwait International airport hit by drones hours after Iran and US traded missile strikes; IndiGo issues advisory
India's largest airline IndiGo, on Wednesday, suspended all flight operations to and from Kuwait after Kuwait International Airport's Terminal 1 passenger building was struck by hostile drones amid Iran's ongoing missile and drone offensive against the Gulf state.
The attack also prompted Kuwaiti authorities to immediately shut the country's airspace, triggering widespread disruptions to commercial air traffic.
In an X post, Kuwait Civil Aviation, wrote, “All air traffic has been suspended, and flights are being diverted to alternative airports until further notice.”
IndiGo issues a travel advisory
In its statement, IndiGo said all flight operations to and from Kuwait had been suspended until 1200 hrs on June 4, 2026. The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers but stressed that the decision was necessary to ensure operational safety.
"We understand the impact this may cause to your travel plans and sincerely regret the inconvenience. Please be assured that this precautionary measure has been taken with the safety and well-being of our customers and crew as our highest priority," the airline said.
IndiGo further stated that it remains in close coordination with relevant aviation authorities and is continuously monitoring developments in the region. The carrier said flight services would resume as soon as conditions permit and safe operating corridors become available.
Passengers have been advised to check their flight status before travelling to the airport.
