Sumitro Chatterjee of the Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Naihati constituency with 77,484 votes. He defeated Sanat Dey of the All India Trinamool Congress, who secured 67,054 votes, by a margin of 10,430 votes.
Naihati is a general category constituency in North 24 Parganas, part of the Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat. It is a largely urban constituency, with over 86 per cent urban population, centred on the industrial town of Naihati on the eastern bank of the Hooghly. In 2026, TMC has fielded Sanat Dey against BJP's Sumitri Chaterjee.
In 2021, TMC's Partha Bhowmick won the seat with 77,753 votes, defeating BJP's Phalguni Patra by 18,855 votes. In 2016, TMC held the seat with around 50 per cent of the vote, while the CPI(M) retained a significant 31 per cent share. The constituency has a strong working-class and industrial voter base.
