The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on Monday, with the government expressing willingness to discuss issues of “national importance” — including Operation Sindoor and US President Donald Trump’s claim of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

Congress communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh said, “Prime Minister Modi is very, very, very rarely present in Parliament. He speaks once a year on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address. But this time he owes it to the country to be present when the issue of Pahalgam-Operation Sindoor-President Trump is finally taken up for discussion.”
Ramesh also criticised Modi’s upcoming foreign trip to the UK and Maldives, calling him a “Super Premium Frequent Flyer” and adding, “the people of Manipur will have more cause for disappointment”.
He wrote on X, “Very shortly the nattily dressed Prime Minister will give his usual Desh ke Naam Sandesh… full of his usual platitudes and hypocrisy.”

Communist Party of India (CPI) MP P Sandosh Kumar has submitted a notice in the Rajya Sabha seeking suspension of listed business to allow a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of mediating peace between India and Pakistan.
In his notice under Rule 267, Kumar urged the House to prioritise the discussion over “Zero Hour and other relevant rules,” referring to Trump’s statements which claimed he helped “diffuse the tension between India and Pakistan that led to the ceasefire.”
Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury has also filed a motion demanding debate on the same issues. “Such assertions, if true, would violate the provisions of the Shimla Agreement, which prohibits third-party mediation on India-Pakistan matters,” her notice read. She noted that Trump has publicly repeated the claim “24 times so far, most recently on July 19.”
Congress MPs Manickam Tagore and Randeep Surjewala have also moved similar notices in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively.
