PM Modi later had a one-on-one meeting, followed by the delegation-level talks, where they reviewed the wide spectrum of the bilateral relations. Both leaders acknowledge that this is a historic visit, as it marks the first time a Prime Minister from India has visited at this level in 30 years. President Mahama acknowledged that it is a landmark visit that is very timely and very opportunistic at a time when Ghana is also looking for partnership with India to deepen economic engagement after its economic rebound recovery that it is facing, having gone through the IMF conditionalities.

Our esteemed guest, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be decorated with the prestigious national award of the Office of the Order of the Star of Ghana at a state banquet to be held in his honour this evening. It is a testament to the friendship that exists between the people of Ghana and India.
PM of India has arrived in Accra, the capital of Ghana, on his historic State Visit. This visit of an Indian PM to Ghana is taking place after 30 years. With Ghana we enjoy such warm, such historic ties, such special ties. Both countries stood shoulder-to-shoulder with each other in their fight against colonialism. Reflective of this very special bond is PM when he arrived at the airport, he was received by the President of Ghana, John Mahama. He was accorded ceremonial welcome.
