Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar, Delhi, on Friday, January 3, to inaugurate and hand over 1,675 newly constructed flats under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project. The visit is scheduled for 12:10 pm, followed by the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony for various development projects in the city at 12:45 pm.
The flats, built by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), are part of its second successful In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project. The initiative aims to provide residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters with a healthier living environment, equipped with modern amenities and proper facilities. Eligible beneficiaries will receive keys to their new homes during the event.
Notably, the cost of constructing each flat is approximately Rs 25 lakh, of which beneficiaries contribute a nominal amount of Rs 1.42 lakh, along with Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance—less than 7% of the total expense.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects: the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, further underscoring the government’s commitment to modernizing urban infrastructure in Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed the AAP as an "aapda" for Delhi, saying this "aapda" has taken the national capital in its grip in the past 10 years. Addressing people after launching a slew of infra projects in the national capital, including in housing and education sectors, he hit out at the city government led by AAP and said the situation in the national capital would worsen if its reign continued.
On the one hand, the Centre is making a lot of efforts; on the other, the Union Territory government stands for brazen lies, he said, accusing the AAP government of committing corruption in a host of sectors ranging from school education to fighting pollution and liquor trade.
With the assembly elections set to be held in the city next month, the prime minister said Delhi had launched a war on this "aapda (disaster)" and decided to get rid of it.
"This year will usher in a new politics of nation-building and people's welfare. Therefore, 'aapda' has to be removed and the BJP brought in," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a range of development initiatives in Delhi on Friday, including 1,675 flats for residents of JJ clusters and two urban redevelopment projects. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh. The college will feature state-of-the-art educational facilities, alongside new academic blocks planned for East Delhi and Dwarka.
As part of the slum rehabilitation project, PM Modi will visit the newly constructed Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar, where flats have been developed for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters. During his visit, he will personally hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the newly constructed flats at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, on Friday, January 3. These flats, built under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project, are intended for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters. The visit is scheduled for around 12:10 pm, followed by the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony for multiple development projects in Delhi at approximately 12:45 pm.
