Sikkim Assembly Election Result 2024: The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha returned to power by sweeping the assembly polls in the Himalayan state, winning 31 of the 32 seats, according to the Election Commission. The opposition Sikkim Democratic Front could manage only one seat. Elections to the Sikkim Assembly were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls on April 19.The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) is ahead in only one constituency. The counting of votes began at 6 am on Sunday, with tight security measures in place.
In the Rhenock assembly constituency, chief minister and SKM candidate Prem Singh Tamang is leading by approximately 4,830 votes over his closest SDF rival, Som Nath Poudyal. Tamang is also leading in the Soreng Chakung Assembly constituency by 2,052 votes over his nearest SDF opponent, A D Subba.
Pawan Kumar Chamling, former chief minister and SDF supremo, is trailing behind SKM candidate Raju Basnet by 546 votes in the Namcheybung seat. In the Poklok Kamrang Assembly constituency, Chamling is also behind Bhoj Raj Rai of SKM by 1,057 votes.

Sikkim elections: Governor dissolves 10th Sikkim Legislative Assembly
Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday dissolved the 10th Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA) with immediate effect to clear the decks for the constitution of the 11th SLA following the declaration of results, officials said. The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) on Sunday returned to power in the Himalayan state for the second consecutive term by a landslide victory, winning 31 seats in the 32-member assembly. "After considering the request of the chief minister and the decision of council of ministers in its meeting held on May 28 to dissolve the tenth SLA with effect from June 2, the governor ordered that the state Assembly will stand dissolved with effect from June 2 midnight," according to a notification issued by the Raj Bhawan. The process of constitution of the 11th SLA will begin soon, officials said.
