India vs Pakistan Highlights, Asia Cup 2023: Kuldeep Yadav takes a fifer as India thrash Pakistan by 228 runs

It took them two days, but an all-round Indian team outclassed arch-rivals Pakistan in their rain-marred opening Asia Cup Super Four match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday. Rain forced the high-profile contest to reserve day and India came out triumphant by a massive 228 runs to collect two points in the Super 4 stage. It was India's biggest win margin, in terms of runs, against Pakistan in ODIs. With the huge victory, India jumped to the top of the Super Fours standings on superior Net Run Rate (NRR) as Sri Lanka and Pakistan too have two points each. Only Bangladesh are without a point in Super 4s so far.

Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah had niggles and they did not come out to bat. So, it's all over for Pakistan as they suffered a heavy defeat in the hands of India in Colombo. Kuldeep Yadav finished with 5 for 25 as India restricted Pakistan to 128 for 8 in 32 overs after setting a massive target of 357 runs.

Shardul Thakur came back into the attack and bowled a tidy one. Just two runs off it.

Another successful over for Kuldeep Yadav. A wicket and just four runs off it. Kuldeep's figures so far reads 4 for 18 in 7 overs.

Third wicket for Kuldeep Yadav and Pakistan are looking at a big defeat in Colombo. Shadab Khan went for an aerial shot towards long-on and Shardul Thakur took a good catch running in from the boundary. Wickets are falling at regular intervals for Pakistan as India eye a big win.

Ravindra Jadeja bowled another tidy over, giving away just four runs in it. Looks like Pakistan have already put down weapons in the contest. They now need to bat to improve their NRR if it is needed for the final qualification at the end of the Super Fours.

Another superb over from Kuldeep Yadav, just three runs off it. There was a half chance of a wicket too. Iftikhar Ahmed's edge hit the keeper KL Rahul's pad and away from Rohit Sharma at slip.

Second wicket for Kuldeep Yadav as he trapped Agha Salman leg before wicket with the final delivery of the over. Salman (23 off 32) took a review but lost it on 'umpire's call', so Pakistan keep the review but lost the wicket.

A decent one for Pakistan. Agha Salman hit a four to score nine runs off Ravindra Jadeja. The asking rate is almost touching 10 per over now.

Another brilliant over from Kuldeep Yadav. A lot of questions were asked and just one single was scored off it.

Ravindra Jadeja came into the attack and started his spell with a tidy one, just four singles off it. Jadeja hit Agha Salman on the face with the last delivery as the batter went for a sweep shot and missed it. Salman was not wearing a helmet, so the ball has cut his face and blood is spilling out. Physio in the middle to check the Pakistan batter.

Excellent from Kuldeep Yadav - a big wicket and just two singles off it. Fakhar Zaman went for a big shot but missed the ball completely and Kuldeep hit the middle stump with it. Fakhar's knock ended at 27 off 50 balls with the help of two fours. Since 20 overs are completed, India are now on the verge of victory even if rain comes again.

Fakhar Zaman hit a four to collect 6 runs off Hardik Pandya. It was a welcome boundary for Pakistan, but they needed many more to revive their run chase.

Brilliant start to his spell for Kuldeep Yadav too, almost got a wicket in it. The left-armer forced an outside edge off Fakhar Zaman's bat but it went a bit farther for the diving Rohit Sharma. Rohit dived to his left from slip position and got to the ball but failed to hold it.

Forget boundaries, runs are also dried up quite a bit for Pakistan. Another tidy one from Hardik Pandya, just one single off it. The asking rate is slowly climbing towards 9 per over now.

Another good tidy one from Shardul Thakur, just three singles off it. Looks like Pakistan are playing to survive instead of going all out in this big chase.

Agha Salman (7*) hit a four to score 8 runs off Shardul Thakur. A decent one for Pakistan after a while.

BIG WICKET! Shardul Thakur also started his spell with a successful one, removing Mohammad Rizwan with a peach of a delivery. Rizwan closed his bat to play on the on-side, but edged it. Simple catch for KL Rahul behind the stumps and Pakistan lost a wicket soon after the restart.

The game can start as late as 11.15pm (ish) as Pakistan need to bat just nine more overs for the result.

BIG WICKET! Hardik Pandya started his spell with the big wicket of Babar Azam (10 off 24). The world No.1 batter missed the big inswinger and the ball went between bat and pad to dislodge the off stump. India then lost their second review while going for a LBW decision against Mohammad Rizwan. A big wicket and just one run off it.

Babar Azam (10*) hit a four to score five runs off Mohammed Siraj in it. Siraj also bowled his fifth over on the trot for India. Pakistan are looking to rebuild their innings in the big chase.
