Chasing 193 at Lord’s in the fourth innings is never straightforward. But it’s not a mountain either. India will hope for a few bad balls, a few quick boundaries, and momentum. The pitch has demons, but also gaps. The key is staying in the fight.

History repeated itself at Lord’s, and not in a way England would have wanted. In the ongoing third Test against India, 12 of England’s batters were dismissed bowled, equalling their second-highest tally ever in a single Test match.

You have to go all the way back to the 1800s to find similar numbers. The last time England had 12 batters bowled in a Test was in 1882, both at Sydney and Melbourne. The all-time record remains 14 bowled dismissals against Australia in 1887 at the SCG.

Washington Sundar’s dream spell of 4 for 22 at Lord’s has now earned him a place among India’s finest spin performances in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) Tests. With conditions aiding seamers throughout the match, Sundar’s ability to extract turn and control in a high-pressure fourth innings stood out like a gem.

Only Harbhajan Singh has conceded fewer runs while taking four wickets in a SENA Test — his 4/10 at Durban in 2010 remains the benchmark. Sundar’s spell now ranks second, ahead of Maninder Singh (4/26 at Leeds in 1986), B Chandrasekhar (4/30 at Sydney in 1978), and Erapalli Prasanna (5/32 at Wellington in 1968).

What made Sundar’s spell even more special was the timing. England were cruising past 150 with Root and Stokes set, when Sundar turned the match with back-to-back strikes. He outfoxed Root, cleaned up Jamie Smith and Bashir, and broke Stokes' resistance. It was a stunning reminder of how a spinner, with patience and skill, can still dominate in fast-bowling-friendly conditions.

Mohammed Siraj fined 15% match fee, handed one demerit point for Ben Duckett send-off on Day 4 at Lord's.

England’s quicks were sharp late on Day 4, but the pitch has started to take some turn too.

Will Joe Root and Shoaib Bashir play a role? India’s right-handers might find turn from rough outside off-stump.

Pant, however, loves taking on spinners. England might have to get creative with their attack plans.

Kl Rahul has enjoyed success in England over the years. He has played great knocks under pressure; he’s a man for difficult conditions.

His unbeaten 33 at stumps on Day 4 might look modest, but it’s invaluable.

A match-winning knock on Day 5 would add another chapter to his growing legend in England.

Ben Stokes gave us drama on Sunday with his last-ball wicket of Akash Deep. Now, he’s up against Rishabh Pant – a man who loves drama.

These two are emotional players and natural entertainers. Expect no shortage of theatre when they clash at Lord’s.

After dominating much of Day 3 with the ball, India crumbled with the bat on Day 4.

Now, they face their biggest test – chasing 193 on a minefield. Win, and they go 2-1 up. Lose, and questions will return about the batting order and mindset.

This could be a legacy-defining day for Rahul, Pant, and Gill’s leadership.

The first hour on Day 5 might be all that matters. If England can prise out Rahul or Pant early, the tail will be exposed.

But if the pair can see off the first 15 overs, India might gain control. With the ball only 17 overs old, it's still doing plenty. But a little patience can change everything.

The contrast is striking. Rahul, composed and steady, nudges and leaves.

Pant, instinctive and daring, pulls and sweeps. Their partnership, if it flourishes, could break England. If one fails, India will be vulnerable.

This calm-chaos dynamic may well decide the fate of the Lord’s Test.

India’s hopes might well rest on the counter-attacking brilliance of Rishabh Pant. Known for his fearless approach, Pant will likely walk in early on Day 5.

England will throw everything at him, but Pant has done it before – remember Gabba 2021? If he settles, the equation could change in a matter of overs.

With 135 still needed, Pant’s calculated aggression could be the difference between heartbreak and a famous win.

KL Rahul stands unbeaten on 33, with India still needing 135 runs to win the third Test. With the pitch misbehaving and England’s pacers breathing fire, the spotlight now shifts to Rahul’s experience and calmness.

On Day 4, he survived an early drop and watched partners fall around him. His ability to absorb pressure without panic will be critical.
