This win is more special in terms of the backdrop to the game, with India losing the first Test miserably while getting bowled out for their lowest Test total of 36 and as a result were defeated inside three days. On top of that, the team never allowed the absence of regulars like skipper Kohli (on paternity leave), Shami and Ishant play on their mind.

The hero this time, of course, was stand-in skipper Rahane, who scored a century in the first innings -- besides the bowlers led by Bumrah and Ashwin who didn't let the absence of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav (injured during the Test) hurt them. Bowling out Australia for 195 and 200 is a testimony of that. And Mohammed Siraj picking up five wickets in his debut Test, with Gill scoring 45 and 35 not out, augurs well for Indian cricket.

Quite deservingly, skipper Ajinkya Rahane hits the winning runs as India (326 and 70/2) beat Australia (195 and 200) by eight wickets to win the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and level the four-Test series 1-1.
