Fifty for Steve Smith!
The premier Aussie batsmen making it count once again, as he completes his 31st Test half-century. Australia 184/4, lead by 217 runs.
08:40 (IST) Jan 18
Australia's lead touches 200 as Green clips Sundar for a couple. And Smith ends the over with a four coming down the wicket to play an extra-cover drive. Australia 173/4, lead by 206 runs.
08:30 (IST) Jan 18
Smith (37*) breaks the shackles after a few tight overs since lunch. He pulls Thakur for a four, dragging a short and wide delivery from outside off-stump. Australia 161/4, lead by 194 runs.
08:22 (IST) Jan 18
Runs from hereon in this Test will be very important. Anything above 250 to chase in the fourth innings will test India. Just four runs scored in the three overs bowled so far after lunch. Australia 153/4, lead by 186 runs.
08:10 (IST) Jan 18
We are about to resume play after lunch. Australia lead by 182 with six wickets in hand. Smith and Green will continue the rebuilding process for the hosts, after India struck with four quick wickets following the 89-run opening stand.

LUNCH on Day 4
Smith (28*) and Cameron Green (4*) have managed to avoid anymore damage after Australia's second innings slipped from 89/0 to 123/4. The duo have carried the score from there to 149/4 at the lunch break, which puts Australia 182 runs ahead of India. But had it not been for that century-plus partnership between Sundar and Thakur yesterday, India could well have been staring down the barrel despite taking those four wickets.
07:26 (IST) Jan 18
Looks like Smith doesn't want Saini to settle in. Even with just around five minutes left to lunch, he goes after a bouncer but inside-edges it to the fine-leg fence for four. Australia 144/4, lead by 177 runs.
07:19 (IST) Jan 18
India take DRS for an lbw appeal against Green. But the angling delivery by Natarajan was missing the leg-stump on video replay. Not out! Australia 137/4, lead by 170 runs.
07:10 (IST) Jan 18
Saini, who usually is up in the 140 kmph bracket, bowled in the high 120s in that over. Understandably so, he is mindful of his groin injury. A maiden, nonetheless. Australia 130/4, lead by 163 runs.
07:09 (IST) Jan 18
And here is Navdeep Saini, joining the Indian attack in the second innings. The return of India's fifth bowler will certainly boost the attack.
07:04 (IST) Jan 18
We are into the final 30 minutes of this extended morning session. Another wicket here will give India the upper hand. Australia 130/4, lead by 163. Smith (12*) and Green (2*) on the crease.

Nasty blow! A full-blooded sweep by Smith smacked into Mayank Agarwal's shin while fielding at short-leg. Even with shin-guards on, that hurts. Australia 127/4, lead by 160. Physio on the field.
06:54 (IST) Jan 18
From 89/0 to 123/4, this is some comeback by the rookie Indian bowling attack that has dented Australia's hopes of a big lead.
06:45 (IST) Jan 18
WICKET! WICKET! One more gone. Mathew Wade is walking back for a three-ball duck, caught behind by Pant. Second wicket of the over for Siraj. It's all happening at The Gabba.
06:43 (IST) Jan 18
OUT! Big wicket for Siraj, as he ends Labuschagne's brisk knock of 22-ball 25. Edges it straight to Rohit in the slips. Australia 123/3, lead by 156.
06:39 (IST) Jan 18
Labuschagne has raced into the 20s in Warner-like fashion. Four 4's in his 19-ball 21*. Smith batting on 7. Australia 119/2, lead by 152 runs.
06:32 (IST) Jan 18
It was India's heroes with the bat that removed the dangerous Aussie openers.
First Thakur had Harris (38) caught by Pant just before the drinks break. Harris gloved the bouncer from Thakur while trying to leave it. Soon it was the turn of Sundar to strike in the subsequent over, and he got the big fish Warner (48) lbw. A review from the left-handed batsman didn't save him and he took the long walk back.
