Iran’s reported delivery of the Majid AD-08 air defence system to Armenia is triggering major geopolitical concerns amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. According to Iran Observer, Armenia has become the first known foreign operator of the Iranian-made SHORAD platform after the system was spotted during Yerevan Republic Day parade rehearsals. Reports claim the transfer was part of a secret $500 million arms agreement signed in 2024. The development comes as Iran faces intense scrutiny following its conflict with the United States and Israel. The Majid system is designed to counter low-flying aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and helicopters using passive infrared targeting technology that makes it difficult to detect or jam.
