Madrid E-Prix: Antonio Felix Da Costa, Pepe Marti share excitement for maiden Spanish Formula E race
After a month-long break, Formula E is all set to return for Round 6 in Madrid. The Spanish capital will host the maiden Madrid E-Prix at the Circuito del Jarama on 21 March. While pre-season testing took place at the circuit in Season 11 (2024/25), this marks the first time the venue has featured on the official racing calendar. Cupra Kiro driver Pepe Marti is excited for his home race, as is the latest Formula E race winner, Antonio Felix da Costa.
Jaguar TCS Racing driver Antonio Felix da Costa may not be racing in Portugal, but Madrid is the closest he gets to a home race. Sharing his thoughts, he said, “Winning in Jeddah was an incredible moment, my first victory with Jaguar TCS Racing, and it’s given me huge confidence heading into Madrid. This one feels different for me. It’s the closest I’ll get to a home race in Formula E, and having my friends and family in the grandstands will make it even more special. I’m excited, motivated, and ready to fight at the front again.”
The Circuito del Jarama is a historic venue, having hosted Formula 1 races from the late 1960s through to the end of the 1970s. It has since become a hub for motorcycle racing, sports cars and truck racing.
The race will take place on the 3.934 km circuit, which features 14 turns and runs in a clockwise direction. With multiple elevation changes, the track proved popular among drivers during pre-season testing last year. Formula E had initially planned to conduct testing at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, but flooding in the Valencia region forced a change of venue.
The Madrid E-Prix will be followed by a rookie test on March 22, Sunday.

What’s special about the Madrid E-Prix?
The Pit Boost feature will be in use during the 2026 Cupra Raval Madrid E-Prix, despite it being a single-header event. Round 6 will feature Pit Boost alongside one six-minute Attack Mode activation. During the race, drivers will need to make a mandatory 30-second stop to gain an additional 10% energy boost to their battery. This strategy is expected to add an extra element of unpredictability to the race. The Circuito del Jarama is a historic venue, having hosted Formula 1 races from the late 1960s through to the end of the 1970s.
