Tyson Fury is preparing for another return to the boxing ring, and his father, John Fury is set to play a key role in the comeback. The former heavyweight champion recently confirmed he is coming back from retirement. Fury has already begun training in Thailand as he eyes a return around April.
However, concerns over his current shape have followed him online. Fury admitted he currently weighs 20 stone and wants to return to his ideal fighting weight of 19 stone. His father has not hidden his concerns either. John Fury believes work is needed, but insists his son will be ready in time for his comeback fight.
John Fury vows to rebuild son Tyson Fury ahead of his April return
John Fury confirmed he will soon join his son’s training camp. He admitted Tyson is not in top condition right now, but made it clear this will change quickly. Speaking to Goldstar Promotions about his son’s physique, Fury said, “He’s not in fantastic shape, that’s bulls***. But he will be.”
He added that online criticism would soon stop once he arrives. John explained that the focus will be on hard work and discipline. He said Tyson needs to keep his head down, train properly, and rebuild his body.
He stressed the importance of movement, awkwardness, and looking like a true fighter again.
John Fury painted a bold picture of what he expects by spring. He said his son would look like “a f***ing Spartan by April” and insisted Tyson would become heavyweight champion again. He also made it clear that body composition matters. He said muscle is fine, but fat is not, and everyone in boxing knows this truth.
John claimed he understands where things went wrong in the past and promised to fix it. He even made a dramatic vow, saying that if he is wrong, he would walk through London without trousers and eat a donkey.
John was in Tyson’s corner when he suffered his first career defeat against Oleksandr Usyk in May 2024. However, he was not part of the camp for the rematch seven months later. That second loss led Fury to announce his retirement. Now, the pair are set to reunite as Fury gives it another go.
Tyson Fury also addressed concerns about his fitness directly. Speaking to fans on Instagram, he said he is working extremely hard for this return and is taking it very seriously. He responded to comments calling him chubby or fat, saying this has always been part of his world.
Fury said he is excited to be back after a long break. He admitted time away from the ring is tough, especially at his age. He questioned whether he still has it, but said fans will soon find out.
